Feeling Fuzzy
65A Quiet time
For many of us, there is a quiet time at the end of the day after the evening meal is over and the necessary cleanup is done. Admittedly, these quiet times may be infrequent if one has young children. But, quiet or not, this period of time can be precious as we unwind and coast into the evening hours. It may be a time for family conversation, reading a book, or to watch a favorite TV show. We leave behind the turmoil and stresses of our fast paced world, and try to relax. This cozy, comforting state, I refer to as "feeling fuzzy".
Evenings without TV
When I was young, growing up with a sister and a brother, we didn't have television. We sometimes settled down in the evening to listen to radio programs, such as The Lone Ranger, Sky King, and Gene Autry. Occasionally, we would play games, such as Checkers or Chinese Checkers. Often, we would have hot cocoa before going to bed. Of course, we sometimes had squables and disagreements, but, for the most part, evenings were pleasant-this was a time for feeling fuzzy.
The senior years
Today, as I move farther into this zone of the "senior citizen" (that means old guy), I find it comforting just to sit in my recliner chair , to read the newspaper, read a book, or watch a favorite television program. Some of my evening favorites, after the news, are Rick Steves Travels in Europe and Jeopardy. Comedy Central can also be entertaining. Whereas, I liked to stay up late when I was young, I now head for bed soon after 9:00 P.M. , there to read for as much as another hour before "conking out"
Aging is not for wimps. There are many bumps along the way. But, I'm rather enjoying this time in life and -------feeling fuzzy

What a lovely concept...feeling fuzzy! :)
Jackwms, You and me are of a kind. The good old days sitting back listening to the serials on the radio. In Australia we had one called 'Dad and Dave'. Oh yep that 'fuzzy' time they are becoming more regular these days. :-)

Jack, great hub! T.V both spoiled and made things better for everyone but, all in all, everyone could do without it so they read more. The invention of the internet, strangely enough, brought people back to reading.
